Sri Atul Kumar Singh has 12 acres land in Village-Firozpur, Block-Mankapur, Gonda. He cultivates Banana in 7 acres land, in rest of 5 acres, he grows rice, pigeonpea, til in kharif while wheat, mustard, lentil in Rabi season. He grows cauliflower, vegetable pea, pumpkin, tomato also for getting higher returns from the farm. He has orchard of mango, lemon, pomegranate, guava etc. He has one buffalo of Murrah breed and one cow of Sahiwal breed. He has vermicompost unit. Vermicompost manure is used in his farm. He also uses green manuring of dhaincha in Kharif season.

He uses poly-house to propagate nursery of vegetables as well as fruit plants. He has established a nursery of ornamental plants, vegetable and fruit plants etc. By which they earn abut Rs. 5.50 lacs rupees per year. His per acre income during year 2019-20 is as below.

He earns net return about 1.50 lac rupee per year from one acre land.

He has participated in the training at CIMAP, Lucknow on production and primary processing of economically viable plants- 4 days and on Vermicomposting at IIVR Iggatnagar Bareily.

He has established 5 HP solar pump at his farm. He has tractor, power tiller, raised bed planter, zero till cum ferti drill, rotavator, maize sheller, disc plough, knap sack sprayer, tractor mounted sprayrer etc. He has also got awards at dist./divisional level.

Awards

2001-02 - 1st prize highest yield 600 q/acre, Sugarcane var. 92423 in Faizabad division.

2013-14 - District level first prize on Rice var. Arize 6444, 128.04 q/ha through SRI takneek, cash prize Rs. 5000/- with certificate.

2017-18 - Highest yield of wheat var. HD2967 shown through zero till machine yield- 63.20 q/ha. First prize in Gonda District cash Rs. 7000/- with certificate.

He is a progressive farmer, he is an example for doubling farmers income through IFS approach.

 

 

Doubling farmer income through Cauliflower Cultivation

 

 

Name of Farmer : Sri Ram Sagar Verma

Introduction : A farmer namely Sri Ram Sagar Verma resident of Chitaijot Village, block Mankapur, district Gonda, is a traditional farmer, cultivates predominately Sugarcane & Wheat. He possess only three area of land which makes tough his life for subsistence. Scientist of KVK Gonda-2 suggested to Mr. Ram Sagar for cauliflower cultivation and also told to package of practices of cultivation. He also guided for marketing of the produce.

Output : Mr. Ram Sagar planted one acre of cauliflower crop variety- GS-75 in September 2019 as per the advice of KVK Scientist. He reaped 76 quintal yield by that much area. He sold the cauliflower ranging from Rs. 1700 to 2000 per quintal and earned Rs. 144400. After deducting the expenditure Rs. 45000. The net gain was Rs. 99400 from one acre of land.

Outcome : He was a traditional farmer but he is able to earn more from his limited cultivable area. He is able to adopt other high value crop and also the expansion of the cauliflower also.

Impact : The vegetable growing farmers are very keen to cultivate the cauliflower crop to see the results of cauliflower of Mr. Ram Sagar. Now, the nearby farmers are gathering to know how the crop cultivation. It is expected that a sizable number of farmer will cultivated the cauliflower in coming season. Definitely, they will earn better as compare to other traditional crop.
