KVK Mankapur Gonda-2 was established in July 2018. Scientists of Agronomy, Horticulture, Agro Forestry, Animal Husbandry, Agricultural Engineering and Home Science have given training to practicing farmers and farm women for upgrade the knowledge of farmers. Total numbers of courses were 176 while 3627 farmers participated in the above trainings.
Training were conducted at KVK as well as at villages. Now, the farmers come at KVK for any problem related to agriculture, scientists solve their problems.
A total number of 150 unemployed rural youths of nearby villages were trained for income generation in agriculture. The topics of rural youths training were seed production of rice and wheat, vegetable sapling production technique, Rejuvenation of old orchard, use and maintenance of plant protection equipments, green fodder production techniques. Unemployed farm women were trained on value addition of cereals and pulses and value addition of alsi, til and coarse grain cereals.
Now the unemployed rural youths are engaged in income generation by seed production of rice & wheat, vegetable sapling production technique etc.
Extension officers and workers of Agriculture, Horticulture and ICDS department were trained for their upgradation of knowledge. Extension workers are root level workers. They were benefitted by these training programmes on topics Pulse and Oilseed production technique, enhancement of productivity of field crops, production techniques of vegetable seed, intercropping in orchards.
Female workers of ICDS department were trained on food security and nutrition, care and nutritional security of female adults etc. A total number of 205 extension workers were trained through 09 training programmes. Now, these extension workers have more knowledge due to above training programmes. They are spreading their knowledge among farmers in District Gonda.
FLDs and CFLDs were conducted on Rice variety Swarna Sub-1, NDR-2065, Wheat var. HD-2967 and HD-3086, Cauliflower var. GS-75, Pea var. Kashi Uday, Green fodder variety Napier grass, Pigeonpea variety NA-2, Lentil variety IPL-316, Toria var. Uttara, Mustard variety Pitambari and NDR-8501. Under nutritional garden vegetable/fruit plants were distributed to the farmers. More than 280 farmers were benefitted through FLDs and CFLDs programme. Now varieties of cereals pulses, oilseeds, vegetables and fruit plants were given to the farmers. Now they are growing these varieties and are getting higher net returns per unit area. A total number of 130 ha. area covering 280 farmers were benefitted through FLDs and CFLDs programme. Now adoption of these varieties/technology is more than 300 ha. with more than 500 farmers these new high yielding varieties/technology were introduced in the district by the KVK.
OFTs problems on performance of different wheat varieties, establishment methods of rice cultivation, insect and disease management in brinjal, application of sulfer in mustard, nutritional value of moringa were solved through On Farm trials conducted during Rabi 2018 to Rabi 2020 at farmers field. Problems were solved by farmers at their own field. During Rabi 2018-19, wheat varieties CBW-38 and HD-3086 were sown for seed production. Produce of wheat var. CBW-38 was given to purchase centre at MSP while seed of wheat var. HD-3086 was distributed to 10 farmers under FLD programme beside this saplings of Papaya, Bringal, Tomato, Neem and moringa were given to more than 100 farmers. Development of KVK farm is in progress.
Scientist of Agronomy, Horticulture, Agroforestry, Agri. Engineering, Animal Husbandry and Home Science have participated in more than 20 Kisan Mela/Kisan Gosthi’s organized by Agriculture & Horticulture departments by these Gosthis more than 10000 farmers were benefitted by the KVK scientists. Farmers are getting agricultural knowledge by Radio talk/ TV talks. The KVK scientists have participated in these talks.
The scientists of KVK have published more than 15 articles in agricultural magazine for the benefit of farmers. Farmers come at KVK to see live streaming of scientists/agricultural officers. These programmes e.g. Vaigyaniko Ki Baat, Kisanon Ke Sath etc. are broadcasted by UP Govt. Scientists of KVK have published different agro techniques in crops in news paper for the knowledge upgradation of farmers.
The vital role of KVK was seen in Lockdown period due to Covid-19. Scientists of KVK have sent advisory on agricultural crops, harvesting of rabi crops continuously. Scientists have given advisory for prevention against Covid-19. Arogya Setu app, Kisan Rath app and Ayush app were downloaded by more than 1000 farmers by the efforts of KVK scientists.
So, we can say the KVK is playing a vital role for the upliftment of social and economic status of farmers with an ecofriendly environment.
